The “Suwaidi Pearls” pearl farm is located in the small fishing village of Al Rams, which nestles at the bottom of the majestic Al Hajar mountain range in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
Established in 2005 by Mr. Abdulla Rashed Al Suwaidi, the world’s first Arabian pearl farmer. For the first time in history, the region is now farming Arabian Pearls in the surrounding seas. This historic development links the past to the future and is the defining journey from historic natural pearls to the pearls of the region today.
Suwaidi Pearls had opened its doors to the public to share the unique cultural heritage of the pearling industry, explaining the historical evolution and inviting guests to see the underwater treasures of the natural lagoon. Rich in biodiversity and an area of outstanding natural beauty, all around are the gifts of nature. The area is a garden of paradise and a magical place that brings a serenity to the surrounding area.
It takes a one man’s dream to bring the Arabian pearl back to its shores and this can only be achieved with the prior understanding of pearls that is deeply embedded in the core of the Arabian people such is the prerogatives of Abdulla Rashed Al Suwaidi, the Guardian of the Pearls.
Abdulla has a symbiotic relationship with pearls and for him, pearls symbolise wisdom and are the subject of many wonderful myths and legends. Therefore, the history and legacy of his ancestors and their intimate relationship with the pearls have inspired and made him who he is, whilst his high esteem for these oceanic gems has driven him to secure their heritage and future.
He knows his life’s purpose and it is clear as the seas surrounding his home in Rams, the village of the pearl people in Ras Al Khaimah. His vision, his passion and his dreams are rooted in the Arabian Pearl.
Itinerary
1. Pick up from Al Rams Marina “old fishermen village” by traditional Pearls divers Boat.
2. Guests will enjoy the tour of the mangroves and their surroundings.
3. Next arrive at the Pontoon floating Suwaidi Pearls Farm House.
4. The Guests will be shown the history of the Arabian Pearls, listen to the 1000s years old adventurous stories of the lifestyle of the Arabian Pearls Divers and witness their diving tools and techniques.
5. Guests are then taken to the next division of the Pontoon to learn how oysters and Pearls are formed. Here for the first time, Guests will discover the science, knowledge, and innovation of cultured Pearls! Learn the mystic secret of Pearls formation.
6. They will be entertained with a live Oysters opening demonstration where there is only a 60% chance to discover the mystic Arabian Pearl!
7. Furthermore Guests can avail of this adventure of oyster opening experience, find and take the mystic Arabian Pearl for a nominal fee of AED 250.
8. Guests are further mesmerized with Arabian Pearls Traditional Traders box “ BISH-TAKH-TAH” see the various lustrous collections of the Arabian Pearls and the Traders tools and treasures.
9. Finally Guests have options of having snacks or lunch upon prior request.
